My Hope Is Christ

This past Saturday we recorded/video'd a new song that my son Joel and I recently wrote called "My hope is Christ." We hope to have it up on my blog within the next 3 or 4 days so stay tuned. Here are the lyrics...
Verse 1:
Even if the mountains fall into the sea
Even if the earth were moved from underneath my feet
You will never leave, You are here with me
Even when my enemy roars and shows his teeth
Even when he stands before Your throne accusing me
You are all I need, Your my only plea
Chorus:
My hope is Christ
His grip will never fail
My hope is Christ
His power will prevail
My hope is Christ
I do not fight alone
Oh doubting heart arise
Stand on the cornerstone
Verse 2:
Your promise is my refuge
Your words they are my peace
Even in the darkness You give me faith to see
You will never leave, You are here with me
Your power will sustain me, You'll lift me when I'm weak
Your mercy will pursue me, Your favour will not leave
You are all I need, Your my only plea

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness
All other ground is sinking sand, on Christ the solid Rock I stand
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling."
Psalm 46:1-3
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."
Psalm 46:10-11
After walking with Jesus for many years I'm learning that it's easy to sing lyrics like this, read verses like this and be completely disconnected from what these words are actually saying.
My worst sufferings pale in comparison to many others and yet at times I've felt like the earth is being removed from underneath my feet. In those moments I can't say that I've done a good job shouting out, "My hope is Christ!"
My responses have been more like, "Oh no, how am I going to handle this?" "The trouble is more than I can bear." "Why me?" Then after a small pity party I lift my eyes and see Jesus in all of his glory and my heart is filled again with new hope.
My hope is Christ for today! My hope is Christ for tomorrow and every day that follows until Jesus returns to take me home. He is my only hope! I'm not sure what kind of news I'll receive in the coming days but this is my prayer that no matter what my circumstances, my doubting heart would arise and stand on the cornerstone.
